Affordable Spay Neuter Clinic
Performs 1,000 Sterilizations
Number Represents Avoidance of

Supplies and Adoption Center
announced today that its
Affordable Spay Neuter Clinic has
performed its 1,000th
sterilization surgery since the
clinic opened in February 2008. Of
those surgeries, approximately 55%
or 550 have been feline and 45% or
450 have been canine.
What’s most significant about the
number of surgeries the clinic has
performed is the number of
offspring that the sterilizations
have prevented – helping Diane’s
to reduce pet overpopulation.
These sterilizations also reduce
the burden on local municipalities
and tax payers for dealing with
unwanted pets.
“Through these 1,000 surgeries,
the Affordable Spay Neuter Clinic
has prevented the births of
potentially thousands of kittens
and puppies,” says Steven M.
Silberman, DVM of the Affordable
Spay Neuter Clinic. “One unaltered
female cat can have as many as 160
offspring in her lifetime. An
unaltered female dog can have
anywhere from 32 to 192 offspring
in her lifetime depending on the
breed of dog. Unaltered male cats
and dogs can father countless
numbers of litters. If the
offspring reproduce freely, the
exponential result is staggering.”
